Critical Deadlines
30 Days
Report Injury to Employer
You must notify your employer of your injury within 30 days. Failure to do so may result in loss of benefits.
1 Year
File Workers' Comp Claim
You have one year from the date of injury to file a workers' compensation claim (DWC-1 form).
5 Years
Cumulative Trauma / Occupational Disease
For injuries that develop over time, the deadline is one year from when you knew (or should have known) the injury was work-related, up to 5 years from the last exposure.

90 Days
Claim Decision
The insurance company must accept or deny your claim within 90 days.
14 Days
First Payment
If your claim is accepted, you should receive your first TD payment within 14 days.
5 Years
Reopen Claim
You may petition to reopen your case within 5 years from the date of injury if your condition worsens.
